02. OUR FEARLESS FREELANCERS

It’s not too common for someone to enjoy work, let alone consider it their happy place, but for The Studio Upstairs team, it is precisely that. With an open space, beachfront views, kick-ass client list and the power to be their own boss, freelancers Torie, Corey, Michael and Will are pretty stoked to call The Studio Upstairs their office. Or as Torie describes it, “an absolute dream”. Pulling from all corners of the commonwealth, from Australia to Canada and Ireland, Jessica, the founder of The Studio Upstairs, was determined to form a team as beautiful as her space. So, she found a construction management student, adventurous cruise ship worker, stylist from Toronto, and Irish troll dolls enthusiast, who thrive in the world of hair. Without further adieu, we are introducing The Studio Upstair’s fearless freelancers.

Torie Cini

From studying Construction Management to becoming one of Australia's leading colourist, Torie Cini is our firecracker, bringing knowledge, talent and incredible energy to The Studio Upstairs. After five years of working alongside her mentor and gaining a tremendous amount of learning experience, Torie set her sights on her next challenge, leaving the golden beaches of Sydney behind and moving to the Sunshine State in 2018 - where she now calls Gold Coast home. Torie flourishes in styles that are inspired by natural beachy vibes. She's pretty much a master at fine-tuning an undone look, bringing things to life without looking artificial. Inspired by her surroundings, Tori creates seamless colours and beautiful soft tones. Intricate yet effortlessly stunning, learn more about Tori here or @colourxtorie.

Born and raised in Gladstone, this country boy had his eyes set on big things. For a good part of his career, he combined his love for travel, hair and fashion, working onboard cruise ships and at fashion weeks around the globe. Upon his return to Australia, he was determined to find a workplace where he could be his own boss and have full control over the direction his career was heading. A lover of big blowouts, glamorous hair, iconic haircuts and a good balayage, beachy wave, Michael excels in pretty much everything. Learn more about Michael here or @michael_young_hairstylist.

Will Allen

Meet our Irish lad and creative stylist, Will Allen. His love for hair originated from Troll dolls, as he “couldn’t get enough of cutting their hair”. 16 years later, Will pairs his extensive experience of hair with a creative flair that you simply can’t teach. Devoted to leading a more sustainable life, Will resonated with Jessica’s sustainable movement in the industry, a huge drawcard to making The Studio Upstairs his beloved office.  Corey Bromley

Last but definitely not least, meet our beautiful beach babe, Corey Bromley. Originating from Canada, Corey has dedicated 12 years to her passion for hair across Canada and now, Australia. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, she was drawn to The Studio Upstairs in hopes of finding a more appealing work-life balance. We can confirm, she found exactly that. Beachy blondes and beautiful brunettes are her things, but at the heart of each appointment, she prioritises hair health and integrity. When Corey isn’t in the studio, she can be found in the surf, practising pilates or playing with her adorable pup Koa. She describes her style as chill, beachy and laid back, which lends to her effortless hairdressing skills and stunning transformations but every once in a while, she loves to let her hair down. Learn more about Corey here or @coreybromleyhair.
