16. A NOTE FROM US, TO YOU.

At the Studio Upstairs, we value people.

We value people, we value choice, & we value life. The trials and tribulations of the recent year have shown us that this really is the time to reflect on our values and the things that matter to us as a collective.  The power of diversity and inclusivity has created a space where our clients can truly feel comfortable, to feel wanted and to feel celebrated.

The Studio Upstairs was founded on the idea that we could provide safe space for the people who call it their place of work. It was important to incorporate and foster the idea of living better, earning better and being treated respectfully. We have always adopted the mantra ‘community over competition’ at The Studio Upstairs, and community is at the forefront of our beautiful studio.  We wanted to create a space for the community where everyone felt equal and this is where the idea of freelancing in The Studio Upstairs came about - to encourage our stylists to be their own boss where the hierarchy system is eradicated. This idea flowed through into the underlying essence of the studio - the essence of the acceptance of everyone, regardless of their age, race, sexual identity or orientation, who they identify as or their beliefs and now most recently, their vaccination status…. everyone gets treated with respect, everyone is heard and everyone is accepted.

Now more than ever we feel a divide in society, we feel like sometimes people are made to feel like their feelings and beliefs aren’t valid. At The Studio Upstairs, we want to make sure that you know, you’re always going to be treated as an equal. Our space is a safe place for people to share their ideas and opinions and to have them respectfully received - our staff really understand and value that everyone has different opinions and different core beliefs that they will take with them throughout their lives.

We have seen such shift in voice, expression and validity with the BLM movement & the Me Too movement (to say the least), we can promise to be a safe platform that will continue to support and promote equal opportunities for everyone.

We want to let you know that you, are welcome - welcome to be your true, authentic self when you step through the door. We see you, we hear you and we love you!
